Capstone Short Video Essay Project

A raw montage of video clips shot by me from my personal experiences meeting friends and traveling around the world. The video focuses on how digital media can connect people and give a voice to marginalized groups by helping tell their stories and share them with a wider audience.

Research played a big role in shaping my understanding of the topic. I looked into how digital platforms are used for storytelling, representation, and communication across different communities. A lot of what I found helped me see how powerful media can be beyond just entertainment, especially when it comes to giving people space to speak and be heard.

At the same time, my own experiences had the biggest impact on how I approached the video. The clips I used are all from moments I lived through, traveling, meeting new people, and being in different environments. I kept the edit simple on purpose, just putting the footage together in a clean montage style without overcomplicating it. I didn’t want the editing to take away from the meaning of the moments themselves.

Overall, the project connects both research and personal experience, but it’s mostly shaped by how I’ve seen digital media work in real life through the people I’ve met and the stories I’ve been part of.
